10-11972 2.1x2.5 Mongolian?, probably mid 19thC, This interesting rug has been reduced in size and professionally rewoven, it has a good pile and interesting design, this piece has structural features associated with very early Chinese rugs, but also with production of 19thC pieces from remote areas of China, warps: 3 ply cotton; wefts: mixture of natural dark brown and beige wool, wefts cross; Selvages: wefts interlace the salvage and then are reinforced crudely with white cotton,  knots are asymmetric open left as most Chinese rugs are but with no symmetrical edge knots, $895.00
