#10391 4.6x6.2 Persian Malayer Prayer Design rug, hand knotted wool, Iran, possibly 19thC, ivory field, orange, orange-red, aubergine brown, and taupe, low even pile, minor and very professional restoration, rare, although the weft is cotton, 4 ply hand woven cotton warps make me think this is still a 19thC piece, turning the symmetrical knots every other row as in Senneh rugs, the use of offset knotting in angles and curves, and packing in extra cotton weft material to straiten the design, are all Kurdish weaving tricks, this is probably Kurdish villiage weaving from the Malayer area $2800.00
